Haneda Airport will begin offering sign language CG-based guidance, a first for a domestic airport.

Haneda Airport will be the first airport in Japan to begin using sign language CG videos for airport facility guidance. By providing the audio guidance broadcast within the airport in Japanese and English text, as well as CG videos in Japanese Sign Language and International Sign Language (information accessibility), we aim to create an environment where people with hearing impairments can use the airport with peace of mind and comfort.
 
This initiative is being implemented by Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd., Ltd. in collaboration with Tsukuba University of Technology and NHK Enterprises, Inc. as part of the "Realization of Tourism Utilizing Sign Language CG" project, which was selected under the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Barrier-Free Tourism Promotion Project Utilizing Advanced Technology."
 
Public facilities such as train stations, airports, and hotels face the challenge of not being able to adequately access information through audio guidance. This project aims to improve information accessibility for people with hearing impairments through text and sign language CG guidance, thereby achieving "barrier-free audio guidance."
 
Moving forward, in order to realize an "advanced airport that is kind to both people and the environment," we will continue to work with relevant organizations to enhance the barrier-free environment, aiming to create a passenger terminal that all customers can use with peace of mind and comfort.
